Biography
Luciana Carro is a Canadian actress of Italian descent who grew up in Toronto, Ontario.
Because she was a rather shy girl, her parents encouraged her to take acting classes. Her high school drama teacher Gerry Campbell, father of actress Neve Campbell, was impressed by the young woman's talent. Accordingly, he convinced her to pursue an acting career and take theater classes, which led to her going to Theatre Humber in Toronto for five years.

In 2000 she decided to move to "Hollywood North" (Vancouver, British Columbia) to establish herself in the TV and film industry. In the years to follow, she booked recurring roles in award-winning series such as The Chris Isaak Show, Da Vinci's Inquest, and The L Word. Encouraged by these early successes, Luciana continued to play a diverse range of characters on different shows and in several movies.
She is probably best known for her portrayal of the Viper pilot Louanne "Kat" Katraine on the critically acclaimed Emmy Award winning series Battlestar Galactica. Originally, Luciana was hired as a day player for "Act of Contrition", an early episode of season one. However, her role was not only brought back but expanded, with her character playing a pivotal role in several storylines.
Luciana was given the opportunity to develop this character over the course of three seasons, working alongside Academy Award nominees Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell. Starting out as a pilot trainee, Kat came a long way, eventually becoming Galactica's CAG (Commander, Air Group). The evolution of this multilayered, complex character provided Luciana with the chance to showcase her wide range of acting abilities.
Despite expanding her presence on the small screen with her regular role in Battlestar Galactica and a memorable part in the television movie Murder at the Presidio (starring Lou Diamond Phillips), she also found time to work on a number feature films.
Luciana was cast in the Wayan Brothers comedy White Chicks and the thriller Two for the Money, where she worked with Al Pacino and Rene Russo. In addition to that, she made guest appearances in both Canadian and US productions, traveling back and forth between Vancouver and Los Angeles.
It was while working on White Chicks where Luciana would meet fashion designer Dorinha. The two became friends, which led to her modeling for Dorinha Jeans Wear.
While she enjoyed her excursion into the modeling business, acting remains her true love, so Luciana continued to grow as an actor and to take on fresh challenges. These included lead roles in the short film Passageway, a dramatic tale of the forbidden love between two women, and in Dr. Dolittle 3, where she played one of the film's antagonists.
Furthermore, she booked a recurring role in Everwood as Ephram Brown's love interest in the show's fourth season. This character would have returned in the following season; unfortunately the cancellation of this family drama series prevented this. Also, Luciana returned to the big screen when she landed a gig in the sports comedy Blades of Glory, playing alongside star comedian Will Ferrell.
To further develop her acting career, Luciana decided to move to Los Angeles. In 2007, she was cast in a Christmas-themed, successful ABC Family movie of the week, Snowglobe, starring Christina Milian and Lorraine Bracco, where she continued to show her versatility as an actress when she played a pregnant woman.
Having portrayed such a wide range of diverse characters, Luciana continues to push her own boundaries and look for new challenges. In 2010 she had a role in the film Urgency. Starring Brian Austin Green of 90210 fame and featuring genre actor Jeffrey Combs, the movie was shown at film festivals. In 2010 she also guest starred as Priyah Magnus, a confident PR officer, in three episodes of the Battlestar Galactica prequel series Caprica.
Airing June 2012, Luciana Carro will be one of the new regulars in the second season of Steven Spielberg's TV series Falling Skies. She plays the character Crazy Lee.
Besides working on both the big and small screen, she attends a theater school to perfect her skills. On top of all that, she has her own theater project in the works, with the goal of starring in, and producing, Tennessee William's play The Rose Tattoo in Los Angeles.
Over the past 5 years, Luciana attended several genre conventions in both North America and Europe, giving her fans the opportunity to meet a warm-hearted, charming, ambitious and down-to-earth woman. Being a very sociable woman, Luciana soon became a fan favorite and hopes to be able to continue attending conventions.
Since Luciana is a woman who is filled with a deep love for everything living, it doesn't come as a surprise that she is an ardent animal lover who has two dogs, Alazar and Tiamo, as well as two cats, Monami and Fly. In her rare spare time, Luciana enjoys hiking, shopping, painting, and baking cookies. She also spends time at the animal shelters, sometimes walking dogs. Last but not least, she has an ever growing Barbie collection that was complemented by her very own action figure (modeled after Louanne "Kat" Katraine).
